GO-JEK (a ride-hailing service unicorn startup from Indonesia) recently announced its international expansion into four new markets: Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines and Thailand.
GO-JEK is currently working with regulators and other stakeholders across the region to pave the way for the new operations. The companies will be run by local founding teams, with GO-JEK providing technological support and expertise gathered over the past three years as Indonesia’s most revolutionary tech business. The local companies will determine their own brands and identities to ensure good traction in each new market.
In Thailand, GO-JEK will be launched under the name GET! by a new company, GET Thailand, founded and managed by two ex-LINE employees and an ex-Lalamove VP:
- Pinya Nittaya, the co-founder and CEO of GET Thailand, was the founder of LINE Man and an active member of the LINE Taxi team.
- Korlarp Suwacharangkul, the co-founder and CMO, was Marketing and Business Development Lead Manager of LINE Man.
- Adisorn (Arther) Kanjanavarong, the co-founder and COO, was VP of Operations at Lalamove Thailand. Before that, he worked for Grab Taxi Thailand as Operations Manager.
The founding team claims that with their knowledge and experience of the Thai market (consumers, drivers and other stakeholders) and GO-JEK’s support in technology and know-how, they will quickly be able to establish GET! as a strong brand in the local ride-hailing industry.
The launch date in Thailand hasn’t been officially announced yet and the GET Thailand team has not responded to our request for more information.
